IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia rider Takaaki Nakagami will start from twelfth on the grid for tomorrow’s Spanish GP with setting 1m42s 906, only 0.498s off from pole position. His teammate Ratthapark Wilairot will start from 7th row twenty-first grid. His best lap time in the qualifying was 1m43sec543.

In the morning FP3, Nakagami continued to work with the setup on his bike. Despite his harmless crash at the end of the session at turn1, no one was able to break his benchmark time of 1m42.612 which he had set in yesterday’s FP2. Meanwhile, Wilairot improved his lap time and arrived only 0.8s from his teammate.

In the qualifying, Nakagami and his team decided to go with the configuration that he had a good feeling in previous sessions. Twenty minutes warm-up session in tomorrow morning will be the good opportunity to finalize the small adjustment for fighting within the leading group. Wilairot lost front at turn2 in his flying lap and missed to improve his best time, although, his pace is consistent enough to try top fifteen finish for the race.

The next Moto2 session, the twenty minute warm-up session at 0910 local time tomorrow (GMT +2) before the twenty-six lap Spanish Grand Prix commences at 1220.

Takaaki Nakagami (12th, 1’42.906, +0.498)

“Small crash at the end of FP3 disturbed us from improving my lap time in the qualifying, which resulted me to start from unexpected grid position. Nevertheless, my race pace is very consistent and competitive. We will finalize small adjustments in the warm-up to make a good start and catch up the leading group from the beginning of the race.”

Ratthapark Wilairot (21th, 1’43.543, +1.135)

“I am very disappointed to have crashed in my flying lap because I knew we could’ve done better! Anyway, we kept improving in every way and my pace is very consistent. For tomorrow, I have a confidence to finish within top15.”

Tadayuki Okada - Team Manager

“It’s a pity that Taka did a small crash when he tried new item on his bike. Although it made him to start from forth row, we believe he can catch up top guys because his pace is very consistent. For Ratthapark, he is steadily improving his riding and we have made very productive sessions so far. We expect that he will make a good race to try to finish within top fifteen.”
